We invite you to a taster workshop with Rhythm of Resistance.
Rhythm of Resistance is a transnational network of activist percussion bands that campaign for socio-political and environmental causes. They criticise and combat all forms of domination, exploitation, discrimination and oppression. Rhythm of Resistance uses tactical frivolity as a form of political action to express anger and outrage against any system of domination. This includes drumming and dancing, inspired by samba and carnival.
The workshop will begin with an introduction to Rhythm of Resistance and its form of action. Afterwards, the key hand signals will be explained, before we get started with the drums.
Be curious and come along – no prior musical experience is necessary!
About the series of events: For some time now, we have noticed a growing sense of helplessness amongst people who take a stand against the far right. We want to change that! Right now, our energy and moral courage are desperately needed. That’s why we’d like to develop a toolkit together with you. So: What can we do? How can we maintain our courage and enthusiasm for political work? Can this work also be enjoyable and empowering?
